Children's Ministry Our Children's Ministry is a vibrant part of our church!

Children's Ministry

Want your kids to learn and grow in a fun, creative and safe environment and experience God's love? At Chilhowie Christian Church you will find a perfect place for your babies beginning at birth and your children through sixth grade. Our calling is to teach children to know, love and follow Jesus. We offer programs that will help children grow through all stages of life with a clear understanding of who they are as children of God and how they can grow in Christ likeness.

On Sunday morning we offer Kids Church during the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. services with Sunday school for every age at 9:45 a.m. An infant and toddler nursery is provided during each of these services and Sunday school. Our nursery and children's programs offer a warm, caring, and fun atmosphere. Your child will be much happier being involved in a class of children their own age than in the worship service.

What do you offer for my children?

Get connected with your kids and issues they face.

Community Outreach – We host many events that are for the benefit of our community such as stocking aCouple local pond and sponsor a "Fishathon" with prizes for the largest fish caught. We have a huge night for our "July Celebration" complete with games, food and fireworks. We also host a "Back to School Bash" before school begins, we use this night as a time to provide school supplies to the children of our surrounding area. We provide cold water to parade watchers during the Community Apple Festival parade in September. "Trunk-R-Treat" is a great night in our community as we provide the children with a safe environment in which to spend the evening and receive treats from trusted individuals. We deliver Thanksgiving meals to many homes in our county to those who are alone and need a hot meal. We have a great weekend in December with our drive through "Live Nativity". This event is as great for our church family as it is for the community due to the great amount of time spent together working and fellowshipping to reach out to our community with the message of Christ. This is just a few of the things we do to reach out to our community and seek to give them the good news of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Drama Ministry – Our drama ministry is presently working on a full production that will be presented to the congregation on Sunday evening, September 21. This ministry provides brief skits for morning worship services as well as full productions for special occasions.

Men's Ministry – Our men's meeting is each Wednesday evening for a time of in depth Bible study and fellowship. Our men also attend the National Prayer Clinic each year as well as attend the Tri-Cities Area Men's Fellowship and an outing that correlates to Father's Day.

Midweek Bible Study – We meet each Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. for a time of Bible study that provides an explanation of scripture as we go verse by verse and dig into the scriptures.

Music Ministry – Adult Choir - Our Choir is just beginning to work on a Veteran's Day program and we are actively seeking new members. If you would like to sing we would love to have you join us. We meet for practice on Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary. The choir is made up of singers from 15 through adults.

Our choir members assemble during the worship service they attend and serve as the worship team for this service. Practice for the morning worship services is at 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the sanctuary.

Musicians – On a typical Sunday our worship team includes music from a piano, organ, keyboard, guitar and drums. If you play an instrument and would like to join our great team of musicians, please join us for a worship service practice on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. so we can get you plugged in.

Audio and Video Ministry – We rely on these technicians to keep everything flowing smoothly in our services with the sound system and the video presentations.

The greatest thing about our worship at CCC is that "God is our Audience of one." We're not about "performance." Rather, we're about worshipping first and foremost. We want everyone to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and living a life of worship. We want to use the avenues we have available to the best of our ability to worship and glorify God.

Prayer Ministry – We have a prayer ministry that consists of a Prayer Ministry Coordinator with a team of Prayer Encouragers. This team oversees the Prayer Warriors of our church who are people who are willing to pray for the weekly prayers requests two times per day for a period of seven days. This ministry also plans and executes 24 hour prayer vigils, prayer walks, a day of prayer and various other events to strengthen the prayer life.

Recreation Ministry – Various types of events are covered in this ministry such as: bike rides, hiking, skiing, golf tournaments, Super Bowl party, and a skeet shoot just to name a few.

Seminars – We offer various seminars that include the following: Financial Planning, Leadership Training, Marriage and Parenting Seminars, a Concert of Prayer forum, Teaching Training and Evangelism Seminars.

Senior Ministry – We provide monthly social events for the seniors including but not limited to beach parties, tours of local attractions, a Valentine's banquet and various others events.

Spiritual Gifts Workshop – Offered periodically is a class to help evaluate the spiritual gifts of each individual. Learn what your strongest areas of service are and evaluate your weaker gifts to help you know the area of ministry you are most gifted for.

What We Believe Class – For those wanting to learn more about church membership and CCC. This class is offered periodically as needed to those who are interested in learning more about the basic beliefs and structure of Chilhowie Christian Church. Opportunities to learn about individual strengths and gifts and how to use those in service for our Lord are also provided.
